Bridget and I are having a wonderful time. Loads of people enjoying the exhibition, lots of chat and fun and good sales.Really thrilled with how it looks and comments. It is still going – finshes 16th August.
Bridget Peachey and I are having a two woman exhibition called ‘escapes’. We are both inspired by the Sussex coast and landscape as well as visits overseas, to Tenerife, France and Tanzania. We each have a colourful, abstracted styles using different media. Bridget enjoys painting outdoors in oils, fascinated by the traces left by mankind on the landscape. While I makee notes and drawings to record my immediate responses to the downs or plains of Tanzania, then work in the studio to create my textiles using batik, dye and stitch.
We hope visitors to the Oxmarket enjoy the “escapes”exhibition and perhaps “escape” a little themselves.
Do come along to the Oxmarket Centre of Arts, Off East Street, Chichester, PO19 1YH
We are on the first day of the Arts Trail. Loads of lovely visitors and fun. Selling quite a bit too which is always nice.
Delighted with the reception given to my new Tanzanian work. I am really pleased with the brighter colours.
Hope to see many of you over this weekend and next, May 2,3,and 4.
The spare bed is covered with all our luggage. We are trying to travel light but it really does seem impossible. There is one big suit case of gifts and items we are taking out including a whole load of Terry Nappies.
The sunshine and warmth of June and July have encouraged me to complete some new work still based on the Downs. The Rape Field was exhibited at the Bourne Quilters Show last week. I am enjoying the rippling effect produced by the shape and uneven quilting.
